The dumpers are an essential component for ensuring the correct movement of different types of products within industrial plants. Their function is to move containers containing large quantities of objects arranged in a non-ordered manner, allowing them to be moved along the production line and accurately and controlledly dumped onto specific supports (conveyor belts, collection chutes, shredders, etc.), to enable them to continue in the production process.
These machines play a fundamental role in numerous types of plants, and require careful planning and accurate sizing to be truly effective. Depending on the needs of the plant, the dumpers can be single, double or triple, with front or side discharge, capable of guaranteeing different capacities (up to over 2000 kg per load), fixed or mounted on wheels to allow their movement within the plant, and so on.
The customization possibilities are very wide, but the structure of a dumper is always more or less similar: here are the essential elements of the CAMEC dumpers:
- Pedestal: each dumper is equipped with a pedestal on which to load the container containing the products to be moved. The pedestal is equipped with pneumatic clamps that firmly lock the container, and a mechanical upper anti-fall bar that ensures that the load cannot come out. Once the pedestal has been loaded, the input gate is closed and locked, to prevent accidents. The CAMEC dumpers are also equipped with a closed-cage iron tubular structure with a mesh, which prevents any material from coming out and makes these machines much safer for operators compared to other solutions for lifting and moving containers.
- Elevation structure: once the container has been loaded onto the pedestal, it is lifted to the height determined in the plant design phase. In the CAMEC dumpers, the elevation is achieved by following a perfectly vertical trajectory, to avoid wasting space within the plant and ensure the minimum footprint possible. The elevation structure is used both for loading the full container and for unloading it once it is empty, in order to allow the subsequent unloading of the pedestal.
- Coverings: once the load has reached the desired height, the container is rotated to dump its contents. The dumping can be done in a single solution or in multiple successive stages, depending on the type of products and the needs of the production line. The CAMEC dumpers can be completed with specific coverings that allow the regulation of the material outlet. The available options are different, and must be evaluated case by case depending on the specific types of products to be treated. They are:
- Guillotine covers: allow the regulation of the material outlet opening through a metal panel that can be lowered or raised
- Covers with pneumatic actuator: are composed of a fixed and a movable part, controlled by a pneumatic actuator that can be opened by command during the dumping phase
- Gravity covers: also this type of cover is composed of a fixed and a movable part, but the latter is controlled by chains that, depending on their length, regulate the opening
- Covers with motorized hopper: this type of cover is particularly high-performance, as it is managed by a pneumatic actuator controlled by a PLC.
