A mobile shredder in action: processing paper reel cores

A mobile shredder is a machine designed to quickly and efficiently reduce the size of a wide range of materials, from urban waste to industrial waste.

The peculiarity of a machine of this type lies in the presence of a movement system that allows the shredder to approach the waste to be treated, making it easier to load and reducing the time it takes to process the material. The mobile shredder can be designed to move autonomously, using tracks, or to be easily loaded onto a truck equipped with a hook, which allows the machine to be moved to the most convenient location for loading. Both solutions allow for optimal movement of the shredder, and the preference for one or the other depends largely on the available space and the quantity and type of waste to be processed.

A mobile shredder can be used successfully in numerous different contexts, ranging from single companies producing waste to ecological islands and waste treatment centers, and its use always guarantees great logistical, organizational, and performance advantages.

A mobile shredder is also a valuable aid for treating bulky or special waste, such as the cores of paper rolls.

Shredding the cores of paper rolls

The cores of paper rolls used, for example, in paper mills, but also in numerous other industrial contexts, are complex waste materials to process, because they are tenacious, robust, bulky, and difficult to transport.

In general, contrary to what one might think, shredding paper is a complex process, since it is a tenacious material that causes rapid wear and tear on the shredder blades, if not properly designed; in addition, the paper, once shredded, tends to compact itself inside the machine, which can cause damage.

The cores of paper rolls, which are made of thick cardboard, are no exception, and in addition, they present an additional critical element, since their elongated shape makes it risky that the waste will get stuck between the blades of the shredder, damaging them.

The cores of paper rolls are therefore difficult waste materials to shred, potentially capable of damaging a shredder that is not properly designed, and complex to move and compact, due to their shape and size. For all these reasons, a mobile shredder properly accessorized represents the perfect solution for their treatment.

CAMEC's mobile shredders for shredding the cores of paper rolls

In the CAMEC catalog, there are two models of mobile shredders, both equipped with the necessary accessories for treating the cores of paper rolls.

The DRM 475 mobile shredder, available in both track and hook versions, is equipped with two rotors with blades that can also be used for treating thick cardboard, and has a sieve that allows to block any waste that, due to its particular shape, has not been properly shredded.

The DRM 650 mobile shredder, available only in track version, is instead the ideal solution for treating large waste materials, and is equipped with a selection grid that allows to easily set the size of the material exiting the machine, recovering any waste that has not been properly shredded.

Both shredders, thanks to the possibility of being easily moved near the waste, allow optimal shredding of the paper rolls, avoiding the need to transport them to the loading area of the fixed shredder and thus optimizing the activity of the company or waste treatment center, reducing costs at the same time.
